Erik Voorhees will be the keynote speaker for our 2024 Annual Dinner
And an update on our work so far this year
We are pleased to announce the keynote speaker for the 2024 Coin Center Annual Dinner: Erik Voorhees, legendary crypto evangelist and entrepreneur.
This gala affair, held in Austin alongside the Consensus 2024 conference, is an opportunity for some of the best people to gather for what is reliably an uproarious good time. We hope to see you there.
Individual tickets and sponsorship information are now available at coincenter.org/dinner

We pointed out the new IRS reporting requirements for certain transactions over $10,000 went into effect in law on Jan 1, 2024.

This caused some confusion as the IRS has neglected to provide guidance as to how this law will be applied in practice. The government’s attorneys, in our lawsuit over the rule, said this law is not in effect until they issue guidance. But that’s not what the law says.

The IRS finally did use official channels to say that it did not expect persons to start reporting until they issued new rules.
All that said, we are continuing with our court challenge, as the rule in question is unconstitutional to begin with.
We submitted a number of regulatory filings that the policy-minded among you may find interesting:

Finally, we appeared in a number of podcasts, any of which would make a good way to catch up on our work and how it related to the issues of the day.
